Riverside Logistics Hires New Manager of Information Systems

Tony SpillmanTony Spillman has joined Riverside Logistics as Manager of Information Systems. In his new role, Tony will be responsible for management and security of all business software, hardware, and data systems. In addition, he will be working closely with vendors and suppliers of technology services to enhance user and customer experiences. His first major project will be working with customers to enhance electronic data interchange (EDI).

Tony has spent over 10 years of his career working in business technology integration. He spent the last 4 of those years as the Technology Support Manager for OneMind Health. His prior experience includes working with customers to plan, schedule and implement hardware and software integration solutions. He has extensive experience working with both small and multi-national clients.

Tony is a graduate of the Baker College and has a BS in Business Information Systems.

Tony enjoys golf, kayaking and volunteer work. He regularly volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels and helps to foster rescue animals.


Riverside Logistics Participates in 3rd RVA LogistXGames

Riverside Logistics was proud to participate in the 3rd Annual Richmond LogistXGames held on April 20, 2017. A record high eleven teams competed this year comprised of employees of the top local logistics providers in the Richmond area. The four events incorporated activities like those performed daily in the logistics work environment. Although Riverside was not able to repeat as champion, they enjoyed the friendly, competitive event and look forward to sending another team next year!

The RVA LogistXGames are sponsored by CBRE/Richmond and the Community College Workforce Alliance. It is designed to showcase the talents of employees in this business sector, as well as emphasize the importance of logistics and distribution services in the region. Riverside Logistics operates three warehouses near the Richmond Airport, only a short distance from the Port of Richmond. The warehouse employees handle over 60,000 shipments annually which equals approximately 1.8 million cases. Riverside wishes to congratulate all the teams that participated, and CBRE and the Community College Workforce Alliance for sponsoring such a fun, successful event.

Riverside Logistics recently received its certification from NSF International. NSF International conducts an annual audit at Riverside Logistics. The audit is to certify for Food Safety, Quality and Food Defense Expectations for Food Warehouse and Distribution Facilities. This is the third year Riverside has utilized NSF International to certify its food warehouse and distribution facilities.

Riverside Logistics’ certification has been renewed for three more years.

SWAMRiverside Logistics’ SWaM certification has been renewed for three more years. “The Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business (SWaM) certification program is a state program of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The purpose is to enhance procurement opportunities for SWaM businesses participating in state-funded projects.” It is administered by the Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise (“DMBE”). Riverside Logistics qualifies as a small business independently owned and employing less than 250 employees. It was initially certified in 2009.
